Hey guys, I recently built a new computer, and just got it up and running (using it to type this!). Now I don't know much about computers, which is why I'm here I guess..
So I'm using my old monitor, and as I was hooking it up, the cable that goes from monitor to the tower didn't match up. I was told to put this plug in from monitor to the video card, and not the motherboard, which is how I had my last one set up.. But my video card doesn't have a slot in which it will fit. So, I just plugged it into my motherboard, which did have a slot.. and it's working, but how come I was advised to put it into my video card, and not my motherboard, when there isn't a slot for it? I'm assuming my monitor/video card's just aren't compatible, so is it worth getting a new monitor, or is plugging it into the motherboard just fine?
