I have a wireless connection with my laptop.on a Belkin G router but can't get it to hookup to my Kindle Fire.

I had the same problem. Then I went onto the Belkin site http://192.168.2.1/ , signed in (actually just clicked submit without a password), clicked Security on the left pane, then a page came up to change the routers password AND ADD a password for a guest. I added a password for a guest, clicked save and guess what... my Kindle Fire HD connected!! ![:bounce:]( ":bounce:")
