Really dumb questions, after build is complete, then what?

Hello All,
I am a bit of newbie to PC builds, coming from the Macintosh based graphic arts world. I understand the mechanical process and have been reading a lot on these forums, posting build ideas regarding components etc. Tons of good advice, thank you.

What I am not clear on is the software side of things regarding OS install, and making all of the disparate parts talk to each other correctly.

So say I am done with the hardware, it's all put together and ready for the OS install, I'm planning on Windows 7 Home at the moment BTW.
Now what? Just pop in the disk and the installer will know what to do as far as drivers, BIOS settings etc?
How will I even see what is going on, on the monitor, with no video drivers? Or will booting from the install disk give me the bare bones enough to be able to complete the install?

Sorry for the wall of text, I'm sure this is laughably simple for most of you.

Thanks for the help!

TL;DR- I'm a newbie and don't know what to do after hardware is all bolted together and plugged in.

Solution
Once your computer is assembled power on and check it posts .

Enter the BIOS [ start up] and select the options you want

Among those will be
enabling RAM XMP profile
Setting the hard drive to AHCI , enabling SMART
and possibly power settings
DO NOT OVERCLOCK AT THIS POINT

Check that5 the BIOS sees your hard drive , and dvd drive
Set the DVD drive as the first boot device .
Save and exit the settings
Insert the windows disk and restart using the case power button.

After post it will start loading windows from th DVD drive .

Once that is complete , install and run the disk that came with the motherboard .
You may have the option to not install junkware . You must install all the drivers.
The disk should just auto run the whole...

When you reboot connect to a network
Find and install the latest graphics driver

Thank you for the response.

When you say check it posts, that would mean the initial text on a blue screen?

How is it I am able to "see" without video card drivers? Or is the monitor plugged into the on board video first, then moved to the card once drivers are installed?
