HD 6970M Graphics Driver Problem

Hello community. I'm currently experiencing a very serious problem with my graphic card.

Problem:
I recently formatted my OS (Windows 7 Ultimate x64) and when trying to install Catalyst drivers everything works fine until I reboot. I get to the "Starting Windows" screen and after that it just shows a black screen or I get a BSOD with "atikmpag.sys" error. I installed the latest stable version, 12.10.

What I did:
I goggled around and found two common problems. Computer drivers outdated and problems with RAM cards. I then proceeded with updating all my drivers with Driver Genius and running a memory check with Memtest86+. All drivers where updated and Memtest86+ made 5 full passes showing no errors at all.

The only way to get back into Windows again, was too go to enter "Safe Mode" and uninstall the display driver on "Device Manager". Then I was able to get into Windows and it automatically installed Standard VGA driver, which is the only way for me to operate this machine and write down my problems in here.

I tried using older catalyst display drivers as 11.10 and the latest beta version 12.11. No success at all.

I also did a chkdsk on my hard drive, but again, no errors.

So any one of you out there knows some way to get my graphic card back up? :??:  Thank you.

I have finally found a solution! It is the most stupid fix I have ever seen, but it really does work!

When I was running with standard VGA driver, I changed resolution to 1400x1050 I think. The thing is, you need to set the resolution to 800x600, install the damn drivers and then restart. No more BSOD, black screens, etc. It does work just fine now. :lol:

I believe it was not in safe mode, because I don't think you can install graphic drivers that way.

I am so sorry for the late answer, but the answer is quite easy. Unfortunately, many od the ati products have no arrangement or updated arrangement with windows, and so; the driver signature have been checked when you open the windows and many times in certain repeat, and while you are shutting dowsn your laptop.

The first solution and mostly works is to load "Drivers Ati Radeon Embedded 13.151", now the most curent version, and sometimes known as Drivers Ati Radeon windows 7/8 Embedded 13.151. This software cancel the driver signature control of atigmpag.sys, and never give the black screen. However, sometimes windows upgrade itself, and can cancel the procedure as it is administrator on all programs. For thi situation load the EASYBCD 2.0 and go to advanve settings, and then, advance, then click to confirm cancelation of driver signature box, and restart your machine, and you will never get the blue screen or other problems for;

upgrated ati products, like gx660r MSI HD5870 to 6970M upgrade is the most common error example. (7970m is the most well known and signature uptade verison of card, so genrally you do not get this error.)

Seond most important thing is the calculating the power consume of laptop/desktop units by counting by one by, such as, cpu 40w, motherboard around 30w, gpu around 100w, 2 hdd around 10w, 180W adaptor is required.

Many of the MSI gx series customers became happy with bo-problem windows experience, no BSOD or black screen. However, they came back to ask why this happen in the games like GTA 4 or Just cause-2 with full hd and full graphic options, the reason is the power, now the blue sreen, do not comes from ati, comes rom motheboard, and the solution is to upgrade it to 160-mostly 180w adaptor, and they thanked us...
