new upgrade, boot problem

Hi, having just undertaken my first "major" DIY surgery, in upgrading the mobo, processor and graphics card, I have found that everything seems to work, except that the system will not boot unless the Windows 98 CD is in the drive.

If I try to boot "normally" from the HD, the system just goes straight to the MSDOS prompt.

As far as I can see all Bios settings are correct, and I partitioned and formatted the drive before reinstalling Windows.

Can anyone PLEASE offer any advice, as this is driving me to distraction!

thanks

Nick

Go to DOS and type: C:\fdisk /mbr this will repair your Master Boot Record maybe something gone wrong under setup and the MBR wasn't configurated good. Running Scandisk might also help.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .
