Im trying to construct a buyers guide to PC2700 DDR ram.
So far i have the following Manufacters taht amke the stuff:
Kingmax PC2700 5ns cas 2.5 256mb BGA
OCZ PC2700 (overclocked & tested PC2100) cas 2.5 256mb
Corsair PC2700 cas2 or 2.5?
Mushkin PC2700 cas2 or 2.5?
crucial PC2700 cas2.5 6ns

what i need is more specialty info like nanosecond ratings...
i.e. i wanna know what brand is the best cauz when i get my DDR333 system i will want to run at the hardest memory timings (of course), with no problems.
so far kingmax is the only one to use 5ns chips..yet its only rated at cas 2.5.

re: kingmax if I set my mem at aggessive settings on my soyo dragon ultra .. no boot .. have to run it at normal settings including cas 2.5 -3-3 and 7t 5t.. the corsair is indeed cas 2.0 but is 40 dollars more for a 256mb stick (95.00/135.00 @ newegg and other places)

hmmmm
expected more out of the kingmax, specially as it has 5ns chips.

well i dont mind paying the premium if it means the difference between conservative and hard... that can make a considerable performance difference, specially with number crunching and divx making.

by the way... are u running your FSB at 166Mhz also???
if so, what sort of mem bandwidth improvments are u gettings?

There's this, too:

I couldn't find any nanosecond ratings on the RAM. Sorry. I looked, too!

i was about to mention the ocz pc3000 ram too...but you beat me to it...doh!!!
btw...ocz ram uses hynix chips (you probably already knew that).

It's a race! YeeHAA!

LOL!

Actually, I didn't know that about the memory. Thanks for the info!

using the divider to run mem at 166x2 and fsb @ 100x 4 A(soyo dragon ultra for p-4) a clarification .. I am running the middle of these choices in the combo setup
normal
fast
turbo

no boot at all in turbo
no boot if I change mem timings in fast
have successfully oc's to 2.2 ghz with a different divider forcing the mem to 300 mhz speeds

at the fast settings and 166\100mhz my sandra mem scores are just below those of p-4 at 2.0ghz w\rdram

im thinkin that toms hardware should do a PC2700 ram review...
everything from highly overclockable crucial PC2100 to the ocz3000.
settings, timings, NS ratings, and real world max achievable settings.

I agree that would be real helpful it would be nice to do a cross platform comparison internally with this too (multifactorial design ANOVA lol) to compare stability \ overclockability and performance among the few ddr 333 mobos out there at the moment varied by brand of ddr 333 and processor\motherboard combination (great senior project for a undergrad majoring in statistics and comp science )

That would be an article I'd enjoy reading. I hope that this comes about ... valuable info is needed!

Well ive had a good old hunt around...
and this is what i can come up with!

kingmax 256mb PC2700 cas2.5 5ns
OCZ 256mb PC2700/3000 cas2.5 with heat spreaders
Corsair 256mb PC2700 cas2 <--- looks impressive
the test it on very hard settings on a sis645.
Nanya 128/256mb PC2700 cas2.5
Mushkin 256mb PC2700 cas2.5-3-3 6ns
crucial PC2100 (highly overclockable)
kingston - nope
Micron - only PC2400 cas2 - might get there at cas2.5
TMTC PC2400 & PC2700. no idea about this brand. cant find any links. none from the place that sells it
TrueGrade PC2700, no heatspreader. another HMMM
TWINMOS PC2700 (uses hynix modules) 256mb, cas2.5 review @ <A HREF="http://www.overclockers.com.au" target="_new">http://www.overclockers.com.au&lt;/A>

think thats about it...
Kingmax also has full PC3200 in the pipeline in TBGA packaging. that would be very nice.

currently though i think the best bets are with Corsair cas2 or OCZ PC3000.
both of those SHOULD give you hard memory timings @ 166.
