Friend vs Me

Hey guys, me and a friend are both building a computer for the first time but we are both going for different builds. Some bits are the same some are different.

Mine:
Processor - Intel I5 3570k
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
Ram - Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B
Video Card - Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870
PSU - Corsair CX600 V2
HDD - Western Digital 1TB
SSD - 64GB Crucial RealSSD M4
Case - Cool Master Elite 430

His:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
Processor - AMD FX 6200 Black Edition
RAM - 12GB (3x4GB) Corsair Dominator (1600)
Video Card - 2GB Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870
Case - Touch 787/12 - Xclio Touch 787 Black Large Mid Tower
HDD - 1TB Seagate ST31000524AS Barracuda
SSD - 64GB Crucial RealSSD M4
PSU - 650W Powercool PC650UM


They both come in at about £700.

I just wanted to know what you guys thought was the better one and if either could be improved with better parts than the ones said while staying responsibly cheap. We will be using them for mostly gaming.

Your build is better, more reputable PSU and has an appropriate amount of memory. CPU is also a fair bit stronger as well. The FX-6200 is comparable to a Core i3.

You could cheapen it a bit by getting a Seagate Barracuda, which are just as good as WD Blacks and often cheaper.
This is the latest version, your friend picked a slight older one.
