GA-78LMT-USB3 and nvidia 9800 gtx+

Hello, I recently bought the nvidia 9800 gtx+ and my old hpe 400z motherboard did not recognize the graphics card so I got an 700watt psu but the issue persisted, next I got the above motherboard and still the card will not work. I have the six pin connectors installed but it wont even show up in windows device manager. What could the issue be? A dead card? It was bought off ebay but should have worked according to the seller. HP told me that my stock board would not support the card so that is why I bought a new one.
