Hello,
I'm having trouble playing games like shogun 2 total war. It's laggy as hell and it's about time I upgrade my pc, but I'm a little low on cash so I can only afford either a processor upgrade or video card upgrade. Can you guys help me decide?
My pc has:
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.11GHZ

Video - ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro

Thanks guys!

Well the thing is, both are seriously out of date, and you are most likely looking at a Motherboard/RAM upgrade as well as the CPU....

But there is some good news in that. AMD's APUs have built in graphics that should easily outperform the HD 2400 giving you both upgrades in one(well 3 actually) upgrade/purchase.

The CPU/Motherboard are both FM2
AMD A6 5400K 74.99

Asus F2A55-M LK PLUS $64.99

Crucial Ballistics 4GB DDR3-1866 $18.99

158.97 total for the above items

You can try finding similar things in a combo, but you may be waiting a while.

You can go cheaper, but the above is my main recommendation

CPU/Motherboard are FM1(so not compatible with the above that I am aware of)
ASRock A55M-HVS FM1 $48.99

AMD A4-3400 Llano 2.7GHz Socket FM1 65W Dual-Core Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 6410D $46.99

plus the same memory.

$114.97 total for the above items

Just throwing this out there, for around the same price as the cheaper option you could grab an AMD HD 7770, but I think the CPU might be a bottleneck, and requires according to the manufacturers a 450w Power Supply.
