CPU loses power when I connect Graphics Card

Hey there,

Basically what it says in the title. I got a Corsair GS800 for Christmas and I had a handmedown GeForceGTS250 that I wasn't able to use before but now can because of the larger power supply. Basically what happens is that, my CPU gets power when the graphics card isn't connect but, when I connect it the fan on the CPU fan stops working and I get no beeps from the motherboard. I got it working a couple times but, then I screwed with it a bit more and I can't seem to get it working again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

More about loses power connect graphics card
  1. well my first thought would be that the psu has not enough juice but 800w is plenty. you can try sending the gpu into manufactorer for testing.
  2. I have deduced that the card is defunct but, thank you for the reply!
  3. The original video card I had in there works fine, no flaws at all. Every time I tried to boot with the video card I was putting in, the monitor wouldn't get any kind of signal at all, it'd just go to sleep as if it wasn't connected to anything but, it would recognize that I had something connected.
