Bad Performance On Decent New Build

I've been getting terrible performance from my new build, such as only 35 frames per second on Battlefield 3, running on low, in 1440x900 resolution.

My system specs are:

AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz
Powercolor Radeon HD 7850 2GB
16 GB DDR3 1333 SDRAM
MSI 970A-G46 AM3+ Motherboard
Windows 8 64 Bit

All of this is running off of an Apevia 650 Watt PSU.

I have a very similar system that has all of the same specs aside from a different motherboard and an AMD Athlon II X4 651K Llano 3.0GHz instead of the one stated above. This system has a much better performance on games, such as getting around 40 frames per second from Battlefield 3 on Ultra in 1680x1050.

What could be causing the poor performance on my new build? I have installed all of the latest drivers and also updated to the latest DX11 version.

It could be possible that you haven't placed your ram in correctly.

make sure your mb bios has all the newest bios codes..check with cpu-z that your ram running at the right speed.
