Looking to get best performance boost for the money. I also need to buy a new CPU cooler, as mine is an old stock cooler, and tends to overheat.

why do you say that? just curious :).

from what i've read, the 660/660ti would fair slightly better with his lower resolution. not that i'm opposed to a 7870, it's a good choice too, very value-oriented, especially with the free games.

i personally dont like nvidia, but i think tomshardware is non biased.

edit..

with amds latest drivers that came out month ago i think pushed them ahead for now.

idk, the article says the 7870 is "kissing the heels of the 660ti." but with the price difference and game promos, and the fact that real world differences are more or less negligible between the two, i don't think you could go wrong either way.

at the same time.. the last 2 driver updates gave problems to Radeon users. I have problems and there are many other threads on same subject
