Radeon HD 7850 not being recognized

Hey everyone,

I received an Radeon HD 7850 for Xmas this year and have spent the majority of the day trying to troubleshoot. It is replacing the dedicated GPU that came with the rig(AMD 7570?) I have installed the card correctly as well as the 6-pin PSU cable but it refuses to be recognized by my OS. I have uninstalled/ disabled both the old card and the integrated one but neither allow the the 7850 to be recognized. I have gone into the BIOS but there is no options for display adapters. The only thing I haven't tried is placing it in a different rig. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My specs are:
i7 3770
8gb RAM
600 watt PSU
attempting to put in a Radeon HD 7850 2gb
My OS is Windows 8 (possibly the problem?)

Merry Xmas!

Hi :)

You DID go to ATI.COM and get the Windows 8 drivers/software to install ?

All the best Brett :)

I did try installing the updated driver from the web yet the card itself never appeared.

Hi :)

I don't quite understand your phrase NEVER APPEARED ?

If you are seeing ANYTHING on the screen its working...

What does it list in DEVICE MANAGER ?

All the best Brett :)

When I disabled the integrated gpu and had the new gpu installed, the computer would boot but no input would be detected on monitors. The device manager would correctly display the igpu or the old gpu depending on what I had in.

I have. No option was available. On board settings didn't include video. I will try a different rig.
