Hi, I'm a first time builder that is looking for advice on a video card. I've read conflicting information about the importance of the CPU, the GPU, and RAM. I have not yet chosen my software for the editing. In addition to this, please review my parts and let me know what you think. Thank you very much for any guidance.

Budget Range: $1,000
System Usage from Most to Least Important: AVCHD basic video editing, surfing the Internet, editing photos
Overclocking: Maybe… new to building my own machine so want to start with stock
SLI or Crossfire: Not likely
Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050 right now but will likely upgrade

I haven't selected the software yet. My thought is going with a card that supports CUDA so I'm "safe" with any choice. I'm not looking for professional editing... but something more sophisticated than trimming video.

Ok then, Geforce 460 or better but you're going to have to hack the support file for Premiere CS5 to make the 460 work.
