Radeon 7770 Crossfire on x16/x4 board?

Today I got a Radeon 7770 (I wanted a 7850 but whatever). I have almost enough money to buy a second card and Crossfire it. My board however is only x16/x4. I know that when Crossfired the 7770 performs pretty well. What kind of performance hit would I see by crossfiring the two cards on this board? I don't care about micro stuttering or any bottleneck (I will probably get an FX 8350 down the road) just the performance I would see. Can I do this? Thanks.

More about radeon 7770 crossfire board
  1. I am in the same position as u montosaurous, looking to xfire 2x7770s
    mobo:z77 Pro3 only x16/x4

    someone help!
  2. The higher the card the more important it is to make sure not to bottleneck your card through your PCIe slot. The 7770 is a borderline case in my opinion. I think your worst case scenario would be a 10% perfomance compared to a x16/x16 or x8/x8.

  3. sell the 7770 and get a 7870XT (Similar performance with 7950 only a bit slower), Crossfire has a lot of issues read : http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Frame-Rating-GTX-660-vs-HD-7870-plus-HD-7790-HD-7850-GTX-650-Ti-BOOST
its a 660 VS 7870 but the same issues will arise in CFX setups
