[Q] A 750$ Build which can last for about three years. Gaming only

Well i can't see into the future so i be lying if i said yes or no i do not know sorry. This is an excellent price for an extremely good gaming build that will play pretty much everything you throw at it at high to ultra settings but for three years though hard to say i do not think anybody can truthfully answer that.

We're in 2013. 3 years ago was 2010.

The second largest Video card by AMD, in 2010, was the Radeon HD 5850. Here is a video of a Radeon HD 5850 running FacrCry 3 (December 2012) at 1080p resolution (FPS around 30-60): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYyt1ByxgSU

So yes... a Radeon HD 7950 will last you 3 years+.

The CPU is something else to look at. In 2010, the middle of the road CPU from Intel was the Core i5 750 (LGA 1156). It actually came out in 2009. That CPU can still power the most demanding of games.

Trust me... good for 3 years :)

Here you can see a Core i5 750 running Battlefield 3 compared to other CPUs. Notice that the CPUs pretty much perform around the same?

well as far as processor is considered any i5 processor will last for atleast next 3 years easily..........but where as gpu is considered its a chance u r taking because hd 7950 may not be able to play future games on ultra high or very high settings.......
well if u r going to use it only for 3 years then u can go for FX-8350 bulldozer it will give u a good cpu performance a save u around $50 compared to i5-3570k

anyways in the end hd 7950 might bottleneck ur processor in future.......and if u r going with intel i suggest a nvidia card like gtx 660ti it will cost u around $299 and save u around $100 - $75 and has nearly the same performance as that of hd 7970 with a intel processor.......and dont take into consideration only 1 or 2 games while buying a gpu

well if u want a gpu that can last for around 3 years without doubt go for nvidia gtx 670 as it is nearly the same price of hd 7970 and is very much compatible with intel processors
