ok i have googled a hundred threads on 680 sli vs 690 tonight cause i am going to grab either one tom.

Now i have seen the performance benches and peoples opinions but im still left with a couple questions.

1. I know a 690 is basicly a 680 taped together but what im wondering is that i am replacing 2 xfx 6950"s 2gb cf because amd's drivers have been horrible for some reason on my pc and updates would break my pc.
now my main concern is not fps but no micro stuttering and in games where you say turn around and it chugs a bit , i dont like that.

will a 690 run smoother then a 680 sli? like less driver issues and less problems here and there?
I know sli has gotten good and all that but if it will cause little problems i would rather spend $60 extra

2. if i overclocked a 690 would it give it more performance gain then overclocked 680 sli? and can a 690 be overclocked higher?

My buddy keeps saying save $280 and get 670 sli"s but my thought is even 10 to 12% is much better and resale might be abit better
any help would greatly be appreciated

1. GTX 690 will give no Microstutter for sure.
GTX 690 will be better than GTX 680 Sli. May run a little slow but keeping a Single card is better than 2.
Ir will consumer less power.

2. You can Overclock that Beast.
And in future you can get two of them in SLI.

you cant overclock the 690. it is actually 2 680s taped together so it will give the same problems as sli in only using one gpu if the game doesnt support it. i would get a 690 cause it draws less power and takes up less room in your case for airflow and such

the 690 by itself is already in sli if you got another one it would be quad-sli. like i said, the 690 is literally 2 680 in sli on one board. since their both on one board you cant overclock cause its undervolted alot.

I too know that GTX 690 is just 2 GTX 680.
But GTX 690 is underclocked. That is why GTX 680 sli takes over the perfomace.

And There are some Rich people who even SLI 690.
It all depends on the Budget.

my main concern is super smooth gameplay and of course fps is still nice. So is the 690 really smoother at stock? computernoot makes 680sli sound better. Like i said all i care about is smoother and less micro stutter and hiccups. FPS<GAMEPLAY
PS only 1 65 inch 3d 240hz monitor

lol i have been staring at these 3 boxing day sale screens for hours

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC $339 after $29 rebate =$720 "wich i have built like 10 rigs for peeps and never once reedemed"

GTX 680 is a little better in Performance but GTX 690 is better choice.
GTX 680 (that too, Evga) will very hot.
GTX 690 will give you smooth gameplay and a very nice fps too.

So, GTX 690 is a better choice. You can SLI them later, which makes it Future-Proof too.

Btw at which resolution you'll play?
