Whining/grinding sound Asus 7870?

Just got my Asus 7870 GHz edition for Christmas. Absolutely fantastic card, love it. However, It makes a whining sound when loading screens have ridiculously high Frame rates (Max Payne 3 for example). I have run fraps on a bunch of games and this sound is directly related to framerate, as it doesn't make it any other time than these loading screens.

Is this fan related? And can it damage my graphics card?

Sounds like a fan bearing or alignment. I'd get it replaced under warranty before something bad happens....

That's the thing, I've manually set the fan to 100% with no (unnatural) sound. It's only when any screen exceeds 450 fps.

Well, when it's drawing all those images so hard it must get some heavy vibration! haha, just kidding. That is very strange. I'd still contact manufacturer's support and ask them what to do.....
