Hello,
So I'm getting a new PC in January.
Specs:
CPU - i7 3770 3.4ghz
GPU - GTX 670 2GB
RAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz
Motherboard - Asus P8Z77-V LX

This is my first purchase of a higher end machine and I'm worried that I'm not buying the correct components. Please help me out.

you should swap out the i7-3770k with an i5-3570k coz both will give you same performance in games so why pay more for i7. rest of the specs are really good will let u play BF3 on ultra easily at 1080p smoothly

My CPU is an i7 3770 3.4ghz not an i7 3770k 3.5ghz

but that still does not change the fact that yu dont need an i7 for gaming. get the i5 instead and save money . get i7 only if you are gonna do video editing or rendering otherwise its not worth it

Your parts are ok, even tho I would swap the i7 for an i5. Now listen to this sugestion, January is awfully close to the release of the next generetion of both Nvidia and Intel if you can wait for another 2-3 months youll be able to buy new generations components and future-proof even more.

If we're talking future-proofing surely I'd get the i7 over the i5.

If you have $100 to burn, BF3 does effectively utilize hyperthreading so there is some benefit to the 3770. However, it's one of the only current games that does.

If you go with the 3570 locked, it will be hammered hard in multiplayer. I'm clocked at 3.9 on all cores just to get under 100% utilization.
