I'm curious to know if I can use my old psu? It seems as though my psu is a dual rail and combined is 38 amps I think. This seems like what most gpu are calling for. Help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I want to upgrade to z77 mobo and an i5 too.

Yeah there is one in Cambridge (Suburb of Boston) and I go there often.

So say budget of $700

i5-3570K $189.99 (you don't plan on OC'ing so the stock cooler will be fine)
ASRock Extreme 4 $134.99 - $50 = $84.99
Crucial Ballistix Sport 2X4GB = $36.99
120GB Samsung 840 = $109.99
1TB HGST Deskstar = $59.99
Sapphire 7870 GHz Edition W/Far Cry 3 (Newegg) = $209.99 ($194.99 after rebate)...

7870 x 2 6pin.

6pin = 75w X 2 = 150w + PCIe 75w = 225w max.

Now-

225w / 12v = 18.75amps max.

Ultra has been known for good power supplies but most I've came across are old including yours. No PFC nor PPF.

Thanks. I'm still running pcie x16 so I'm hoping it will still work on my mobo. If not the price of the xfx 7870 is really good so I will have it for my new build. Any suggestions on a psu for later on?

Budget 600-700usd. I have a nice antec 900 case and monitor. Was thinking an i5 3470, xfx7870, gskill 16gb 1600, and an msi z77 board. Not interested in oc. If I needed to upgrade my psu I was also thinking about a corsair 650w. Something under 100usd.

Do you live by a Microcenter? Starters, with the purchase of a 3570K/3770K ($189/$289) you'll get $50 off any Z77 board (I'm not a fan of MSI anymore). And what components do you have now that you can reuse?

No micro center. :( well wait, there is one in mass right? I have family there maybe on a visit could pick it up. There a decent store huh? What mobo would you recommend ? The only components I want to keep are my case (antec 900) my monitor and was hoping to keep my psu (ultra xfinity 600w). Thanks
