Hi guys ! So first of all, i will not buy this, so if you dont want to waste time on something, what will i not buy, go away.
So i was thinking, what would be the best computer, if i would have no budget.

What i ended up is :

Intel Core i7 3970X Extreme Edition
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme - Intel X79
3x Seagate Constellation ES.3 - 4TB
Seasonic X-1250 1250W
4x EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Classified Hydro Copper 4GB
Fractal Define XL USB 3.0 Titanium Grey
Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 2400 XMP
2x Samsung SSD 840 Series - 512GB, Pro

And it made me think :D ... Will be 3970X able to make go all these GTX 680 work on 100 % ? And if it somebody already did, how much FPS can he get in BF3 ? :D  I know it is complete overkill, but i just wanted to know what is best performing game computer :D

More about : sli gtx 680

Lawl

Just get huge capactiy ssd's. Even a PCI based ssd if you could fit it in (I think you could).

But to answer your first question, I honestly don't know. My gut feeling tells me that even an overclocked core i7-3970x would not be able to push 4 overclocked GTX 680's to 100%.

I would use the Asrock X79 extreme 11 mobo, the only motherboard that can run x16/x16/x16/x16 for those 4 680's

Should be able to run 4 WAY SLI GTX 680 on 100% if you overclock the i7 to like 5 GHZ

At 1080p, a CPU would have no chance trying to keep up in some games, like online BF3. A guy with 3 670's earlier in the year was doing this, and had bottlenecking issues at 5760x1080p with BF3 online, even with a 4.8Ghz OC.

I'd probably switch out the 4 680's for 2 690's. Or at least water cool the 680's. The noise from those 4 680's jammed together would ruin the experience.

This would work well for 3D Vision surround, or maybe 3 x 2560x1600 monitors.

Hate to break it to some of you guys, but 4 GPUs isn't really a supercomputer that would tear up anything except 3dmark11... it's more like a permanent trip to driver hell with a nice side of constant headache from the noise...

Apart from the fact that Nvidia don't list the GTX680 as being capable of 4 way SLi (only 3 way) 4 GPU's would make a good folding rig.
