New First Time Built

Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as possible

Budget Range: approximately $2000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming with 1 screen, surfing the internet, home office stuff

Are you buying a monitor: Yes (included in Budget)

Parts to Upgrade: No built

Do you need to buy OS: Yes (How is Windows 8?)
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: irrelevant. I don’t leave in the US or EU.

Location: ZA

Parts Preferences: Intel

Overclocking: Yes /

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe adding a second GPU later

Your Monitor Resolution: Depending on new monitor. Unfortunately I have no experience here and hope for your feedback.

Additional Comments: This will be my first built so I am thankful for any advice you can give me. From a preference point of view regarding the case I am looking for something that is a bit more elegant and without bright red blinking lights. Understated is fine but it should have a good built. There are so many around so I am not sure.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I currently have a Dell XPS Laptop that cannot handle current games and I want a desktop for this.

  2. Are you from South Africa? If so then post the store you're buying from and that will help to suggest parts. If you don't know of one the link in my signature lists something like 15 stores for ZA.
  3. Probably from They are the closest to me

It's a great case - I have it on my work PC. Keep in mind it shows dirt really easily so it will be difficult to keep clean.
