Hi guys, new here.

Im thinking of building my own PC. I have a list of components and have ventured into researching which ones to buy, the problem is I dont know what to buy first. :/

Could anyone give me some tips on what to buy first, since I dont have enough money to buy everything at once, my build will probably be spread out over about 2 months.

Also whilst im here, could anyone recommend some towers that will fit a Radeon 7950?

Thanks :)

Hi, most Mid ATX Towers will fit the 7950.

In 2 months, a lot of things and prices would have changed and recommendations would have changed by then. Please ask again 1 week before you buy your stuff.

Hope this helps. :)

What is your budget for the tower though. :) What is your planned budget as well?

I started off with my Case... Which is a good idea, but now I plan on upgrading because it was a Case that was on sale, not the one I wanted... So, my advice, Go with what you really want.

My order went...

Case

Motherboard

CPU (Friend gave me his old one)

HDD

RAM

Optical Drive

Windows 7 OS

I recommend getting a OEM OS.

I finished my build yesterday! It works! Lol.

Oh, Most Mid-ATX cases will fit a Card of that size I recommend Antec, Cooler Master, Zalman or Rosewill for cases. Those generally tend to be the best cases I've found.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Ive just checked on pcpartpicker and my total was £1000 (around $1500) which is feasible, that includes a £50 ($80) case, so i'll probably limit my case at around $100 if you have any suggestions. Also, if its white it would be a huge bonus.:)

-know you budget-$500? $800? $1500? $5,000???( make sure to get decent monitor, keyboard and mouse, think about getting a 120Hz or 1440p for the monitor if you can squeez exstra $, especially if your gaming)

-know how to make a computer (how much thermal paste, zero insertion force- how put the cpu in, cable management, static wristband-static electricty ect.)

-know what your going to do with the computer so you can get the parts that you need-gaming?Facebook?Video Editing?

-know what motherboard to get (overclocking? cpu socket fits your motherboard?)

-choose a cpu- intel or amd how many cpu cores do you need/want?

-better cooling for cpu-water cooling? (more exspensive $60-200+) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHNFhTAvvBA
or
air cooling? ($20-80) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

-the only thing you could skimp out on, to lower the price, is your case or motherboard (know if your going to oc and how much space is your cpu cooler/radiator is going to take)

Look at other builds on the web that people have posted, you can research for months (like me) and figure what to get or you can just takes a pros advice.
