Hi all,

I've been searching all over trying to find out if a PCI-E 2.0 slot is capable of running a 3.0 graphics card. I know that the mainboard's PCI-E slot is backwards compatible in most cases, but is the GPU too?

Also, I since I'm not a computer whiz when is comes to hardware, I'd appreciate it if someone could explain what "bottlenecking" is, and if that's possible for me.

Rig:
N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX
AMD Athlon II 645 3.1 (quad core)
ATI Radeon HD 6850
14GB Memory

Thank you!

yes it will work. You can put a 3.0 gpu in a 2.0 slot. Bottlenecking is when one component is much slower than another and is holding back the performance of the second component. In your case, your cpu is bottnecking your gpu.
Btw you are over killing it on the ram
