Random guy who wants a new gaming computer for 1.5 k max, prefe

Hey guys, so I haven't really kept up with computer hardware since 2009, and I have more or less forgot what little technical know-how I had. I am going to buy a new gaming setup within the next 5 days, and I was wondering if any of you could help. I have $1-1.5k approximately to use, and I would like this computer to last for the next 1-2 years before I upgrade. I live in Australia btw.

Thanks in advance.

Also, I never really cared, but how much does the motherboard matter?
