I'm upgrading to an XP1500 on a Soltek SL-75DRV2 (KT266A) mobo.

Which DDR is the best bang for the buck? I'm a little confused by the PC2100/2400/2700 and CAS ratings etc. Seems like you can drop a ton of money for Corsair PC2700, but get OCZ brand for half the price. Is PC2700 worth 50% more than PC2100 etc?

Your mobo runs at 133(266) MHz FSB so normally you want PC2100 RAM, if you're planning to overclock the FSB a lot then it could be better to choose PC2400/2700 RAM:
PC2400 runs at 150(300)MHz
PC2700 runs at 166(333)MHz
But be aware that it only runs at those speed if you overclock the FSB your mobo doesn't come with an 166(333) MHz FSB.
You can also choose for PC2700 if you plan to update to an 333 MHz FSB board in the near future.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .
