Upgrade now, or wait

I'm wondering if now would be an opportune time to upgrade my PC. It seems that a new Intel series of CPU's (Ivy Bridge-E?), DDR4, and new GPU's are coming out in a few months. Do you think it would be a smart idea to upgrade now, or wait for the new technology to come to market?

Nothing is ever futureproof in the wonderful world of electronics, so I don't think you can ever say if it's the right time or not to upgrade. Really depends on what's your hardware right now, what are your goals, what you're doing with the machine, etc...

Right now I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 from about 4 or 5 years ago.

~Core i7-870
~ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5
~8gb Generic DDR3 RAM @ 1600Mhz
~1.5 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
~120 GB Intel 520 SSD

As for what I use a PC for, I play games and do some 3D rendering.
