I'm toying with the idea of upgrading my system:

- Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition 3.2Ghz
- ASUS M4A78T-E AMD 790GX MB
-OCZ DDR3-1333 6GB memory
- ASUS EN9600GT SILENT
- ANTEC BP-430 430W
- SAMSUNG 830 128GB SSD
- SAMSUNG HD103UJ 1TB
- WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar Black 500GB
- PowerSpec by CoolerMaster Mid ATX Case
- 2 x 24" BENQ monitors

I may have $250-350 to spend. Not a gamer, so the somewhat lame graphics card may still do the trick. I do a lot of video encoding and editing with Premiere, though, so more oomph would help, plus I'll welcome any ideas for getting the system quieter. Right now, it runs the regular Phenom II cooler together with front and back side fans at low RPMs.

One more question: I'm running Win 7 Professional (OEM version on it). Will I be able to re-install this one if I replace my CPU/MB?

Appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks, Camohanna. A new graphics card may not do much for me, but the 8350 seems worth a thought.

Is my ASUS M4A78T-E motherboard still right for it, or should I upgrade that one, as well? What about memory?

An X6 Phenom if you can find one at a reasonable price .

Assuming you have 2 x2 and 2 x1 gig of RAM ........ replace the 2x1 with a 2 x4 gig kit
Then you have 12 gig

a 64 bit OS , if you dont have one . Perhaps the upgrade to Win8 64 bit . Cost effective .

One thing you do not need is a more powerful graphics card
