No post, beep, or video after installing Win 7 on new HD

Hello,
Title says it all. New install was going normally, with normal reboots during installation. After last good reboot, system appeared to freeze while displaying ASUS splash screen. I thought this was normal during new install. After waiting a very long time, I could not get the computer to respond at all, resorted to flipping off the power switch. Tried to start back up.. the CD/DVD responds, I hear the HD start up and then stop, no beeps. Monitor shows "no signal" message. Unable to even turn comp. off unless I flip the switch on the back. All connectors firmly secure.
