High pitch squeal

Hello,

I installed a Geforce 8800 GTS in a Dell Dimension 8400. after i get everything hooked up and turn on there is a high pitch squeal. i turn it off after a couple of checks, I removed the graphics card and no more squeal. i cant figure out what else to do.

I am a first time to build my own computer. can anyone help?

I might suspect the fan on the 8800GTS. See that it is clean and freely turning.
Also check that there are no cables that might be interfering.

If the 8800GTS is new, return it.
If it is used verify that the fan is turning.
If the squeal stops when you stop the blower with your finger, you have found the source.
A fan/blower replacement might be necessary.
