Will PC2700 work at 133Mhz?

I'm gonna get a cheapo KT266A mobo for now, but expect to upgrade to a KT333 at some point, so I wanna get the PC2700 RAM. Will this RAM work with the KT266A mobo @133?

Yeup, but I recommend you wait for the KT333a. Via has a history of making crappily performing chipsets and then releasing an updated version with an 'a' that are much better.

I might also suggest waiting until some better performing or pc 3000 or 3200 ram becomes available

hey fatty... i read yesterday taht via is thinking of just skipping the 333 and going straight for the 333a.
proly cauz there isnt enough reall difference between the 333 and 266a, just a couple of extra dividers and ddr333 'support'

Overclocked athlon 1200C @ 8.5 x 166FSB + PC2700 = GOOD!

I'd be surprised, but it'd be welcome news.

No, it's not, it's false advertisement. The KT333A won't be a revision of the KT333 because the KT333 never existed.

Unless they decide to actually produce a decent chipset this time around, which I thought was the point, not the actual name.

Then they shouldn't include an A at the end but include all the features they originally wanted in rev.A.

Which is what I was thinking they were talking about.

But it's a moot point unless we see some actual news about it.

well there are so called kt333 chipsets out there... msi and asus engineering samples i believe. i believe the major difference between 333 and 333a is the vlink, and unsure if these boards have it.
*shrugs*
all very confusing.

honestly if they insist on running at asynchronous 133/166 then the board doesnt DESERVE the label kt333a...
most asychronous benchmarks suck. 5% gain at best.

Vlink is already in use, I believe. 533MB/s bandwidth between North and South bridges. Pales in comparision to Hypertransport.
