I'm curious as to if the real uncut version of "Fantasia"
ever got release on Laserdisc? I would like to get ahold
of it myself as there is NO way I am going to buy the
"uncut" version that Disney decided to release on DVD (which
is a farce if you ask me).

Thanks in advance,

If you mean, is there any LD release that includes the "pickaninny"
centaurettes, the answer is "no".

Just how far into the film are these "pickaninny" centaurettes supposed to
be?

They are supposed to be in the "Pastoral" sequence. If I recall correctly, they
*do* briefly appear in the sequence, flanking the "lead" centaurette, but the
scene that was considered objectionable was one in which they are shown
polishing the lead (white) centaurette's hooves.

All of the cuts are in the Pastoral Symphony segment. Here is a rant
about them:

<http://www.widescreen.org/commentaries/2001_04_apr.shtml>

Here are three of the four cuts as QuickTime movies (look toward the
bottom of the page) in PAL format:

<http://www.widescreen.org/multimedia.shtml>

The fourth cut (not included in the above link) is of a drunk and
stumbling Bacchus making his way up the newly-carpeted stair steps. On
the DVD, the carpet magically unfurls itself UP the stairs! The
original animation had one of the pickaninny centaurettes (the very
first one from the QuickTime movies above) unfurl the carpet ahead of
Bacchus before he sits/sloshes down in his chair at the top of the
steps.

I have the fourth cut on an NTSC avi file. I converted the above
QuickTime movies frame-by-frame to NTSC, combined them with my NTSC avi
file of the fourth cut, and made a DVD of the entire UNCUT Pastoral
Symphony in DD 5.0. It looks pretty good considering the source
material. e-Mail me at: unclejrusenet(at)yahoo(dot)com if you want a
copy.
