Two Raddeon HD 5450s vs one GeForce GT 610 GC 2GB DDR3

I have a new computer that I built trying to keep the cost down. So I bought a super cheap Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3. I'm now thinking of adding a second card or replacing the current card... Again, on the cheap.

Should I add a Radeon HD-545X-CDH2 and run it in CrossFire or should I just get a new better model, for example GeForce GT 610 GC 2GB DDR3. I'm not looking to spend much more than 70 bucks...

Any thoughts? I use the computer to play games like Starcraft 2, Skyrim, and am considering buying FarCry 3...

The 610 will be faster than 2 5450s in CF. I would recommend the GT610.

That's what I suspected... Just didn't want to have to negate my initial "investment" (Okay, I'm super-cheap...).

Better to step up to a GT630 if you can (or at least GT620/GT530) or you're not gonna have much luck with Far Cry 3. The GT610 is a fair bit weaker than the 6450 here:

And that 6450 is not doing well.

Ya, I was wondering about that... For me I'm not so concerned with things looking great, more that the frame rate stays up...

I got a 100 gift card as a Christmas bonus, so I was hoping to be able to upgrade the gpu and get a new game. (Tigerdirect had some good cards that were "throwing in" FarCry 3, but alas the gift card is for bestbuy...).

So maybe I should just upgrade to a $100 card and wait to get a new game... Best card for 100? (on Bestbuy...)

Well those are minimum settings, no AA and 720p... so don't worry, it's not gonna look great $100 at Bestbuy... could you get a 7750 for that?

7750 is about $120 on Bestbuy and the 7770 is $120 on Tiger... Ugh...

I wonder if they'd price match... I was reading that they've started doing that... Maybe I'll go to the store and check...

Only to certain retailers and it's completely manager's discretion. Most won't, but the nice ones will. Also depends where you are and how busy your best buy is. If your best buy is one of the stores thats getting dropped he/she will most likely turn down any and all price matches.

Also depends on whether BB carries the same product as the competing retailer (to the exact model number).
