Hi there I am going to be building a gaming pc and am unsure whether to go for a x79 or z77 motherboard if I got a z79 i would get a i7 3820 and for the z77 I would get the i7 3770k I know people say the 3770k is better but I hear that the x79 will be compatible with future processors so is upgradeable if I want to I would be running a gtx 670 with it and about 16gb of ram but will probably upgrade soon after just wanting some advice thanks

What is your budget? The i5 is the best CPU for gaming because games do not use hyperthreading and most people with i7s disable it when gaming. The new intel chips (haswell) will be on the 1150 socket and will not be compatible with any current socket.

My budget is about $1800 and I do also do a bit of video editing. Aren't they bringing out newer processors on the 2011 socket or will they all be completely new sockets?
