I would rather go an i5.... It all depends on what you're playing. Although I haven't used an i3, I have used Sandy Bridge dual core and it just doesn't work with BF3 or Counterstrike online multiplayer.

If someone here can say that the i3 runs BF3 on ultra and 64 player online, then I will keep my mouth shut. I know for a fact that the GTX 660 can play on Ultra, but that's with an i5 3570k.
