I am upgrading my computer mainly for gaming nothing really special i am not really interested in overclocking because i really dont feel i should need to but i am just looking to make sure that the upgrade i am looking to make will be a decent one.
Before:
Cpu-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Mobo-MSI Platinum ms-7380
Ram- 1x1g ddr2 crucial technology
2x2g ddr2 corsair part

Upgrade to:
Cpu-AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz
Mobo-ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0
Ram-G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
I am still debating over what ram to buy because i for sure want to go with 8gb just idk if to go 1866 or 1600 because i hear that i need to oc for the board to recognize the 1866. Also i have been reading through some articles and it seems like this mobo will have issues with the cpu but the articles were from last year so has the sabertooth been updated to support that cpu. Thanks for all opinions or ideas.

Yep in gaming... 1600 CL9 is for an intel build, on the AMD side, the faster the better but it's more a motherboard compatibility problem so make sure to check the QVL on the manufacturer website (QVL stands for Qualified Vendor List or sometimes it's called memory support, etc...)

I would probably go an intel route if i had more time and more money but i am trying to manage with what i have based on my situation so i am sticking with the amd route. I have a pretty good video card already so i didnt list it lol. I was told that the difference between 1600 and 1866 is very small so its better to save money and go with the 1600 idk i have not looked into it yet.

3570k @ 3.4 is the same as the FX-8350 4.0ghz in gaming scenario however you could easily pull 4.5ghz for the I5 and about 5ghz for the FX-8350 but they'll still be on par (maybe a slight advantage for the I5 as it was the already 5% faster at 600mhz slower and now it's a 500mhz difference)

But if you plan on editing videos, music or any rendering work, the FX will be faster (but only in that kind of work)

Not fanboying but the fx-8350 beats the i5 3570k in almost every game by a couple fps and its 30 dollars cheaper. If you are doing any video editing than definitely go for the 8350.
