i just installed win xp pro...
i did a clean install (reformat HD and booted from the cd)
everything went smoothly but when i boot the computer...it asks me to select an OS to start.
one of the OS is obviously win xp...but the other one is called "microsoft windows".
all it is is just the C prompt...that's it.
the computer will automatically boot to win xp if i dont do anything for 30 secs (there's a timer there).
i have no idea how to get rid of it.
i tried looking for the autoexec.bat and config.sys file but apparently win xp doesnt have them.
this isnt a major problem...its just a minor annoyance...if i cant fix this...i dont have a problem dealing with it.
i just want the computer to boot directly to win xp and not have the OS selection.

Right click my computer,
Properties,
Advanced,
Click on Starup And Recovery settings
Select your default OS "WinXP" or whatever
uncheck the "time to display" box to remove countdown
wash, rinse and reboot and your done
