Ordering my second PC ever, here are the parts. Please critisize me and the parts as much as possible, and make fun of them (only if they're bad)... If you think you can change anything to make it better, please go ahead. My budget is $700 including shipping and tax. Keep in mind I live in Canada and shipping is really stupid here eh?

That PSU is complete crap. Get one from Antec, XFX, Corsair, or Seasonic.

Get regular RAM (1600mhz)

Get a slightly cheaper motherboard.

Use this money saved to get an fx-6300 instead of the phenom.

Yea, I know the PSU's crap. probably going to switch it.
I couldnt find any cheaper 1600mhz ram :p  Cheapest was actually 1866mhz

I was originally going for the 6300, but I heard that the phenom will be better because it has 4cores/threads, and the FX is 3 cores/6threads. Do you know how big of a dif. there is between the phenom and 6300?

Also, could you recommend me a cheaper mobo with Sata III? Does Sata III make a big difference when using a 7200rpm HDD compared to a SATA II?

I would just stick with your motherboard.

Beats it everywhere.

Make sure to get a PSU from the companies I listed. Raidmax is bottom barrel. Worst of the orst.

Thx. Found an antec 430W for the same price, also 80+ certified. I'll try and fit the fx 6300 also.

What are good cheap motherboards? Im aiming for one with Sata III, but if theres one like $20 cheaper without Sata III, that would be good enough.

Whoah frick, my internet just messed up, just triple posted.. Ok thx, I'll stick with my motherboard.

Thanks so much otherwise I would've been screwed without you haha :)

You will want 500w for your GPU. A 430w won't cut it.

Get this mobo: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

Thanks tiny voices for all the help, I just want to confirm this build for all compatibility and everything.

AMD FX 6300 (or fx 6100....?)
XFX Core Edition PSU
Seagate 1TB
asrock mobo
HIS IceQ H787Q2G2M Radeon HD 7870
Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Athena Power CA-GSB01DA Black case

The case you listed will work, but won't have the best airflow and has a top mounted PSU so no cable-management.

Thanks for pointing out the top PSU mounting place... It's just something I can't have due to where my computer is going to be placed. Thanks

Hey tiny voices, I noticed in your signature you have the Corsair CX600, are there any light screeching sounds/high pitched squeaks at all? A lot of people are mentioning it on the feedback on newegg.

No, that issue was fixed a while ago. Mine is perfect.

Where will your case be which won't allow a bottom PSU?

I have a desk with a little stand under it for a computer, and theres a whole only at the bottom to plug in the power cable, there is a little piece blocking the top part of the computer.

EDIT: Thanks for all the help.. Would've been in the dump if it weren't for you, tyvm.
Is there anything else I could upgrade possibly in the future to make this better?
February 19, 2013 9:15:13 PM

Ahh I see. Well in that case get whatever case you like!

The mobo you recommended me says its Micro ATX, does this mean I need a micro ATX case, or would it also fit in a regular atx mid tower case?

It will fit in a regular ATX case no problem. You should measure the space you have for the case and compare the measurements to the case dimensions on newegg. Often times those desks are made for smaller prebuilt cases, as is the case with my girlfriend's.

So the price was a bit overload for me, so I decided to swap out the 6300 for a phenom x4 965. When I went to the checkout, it said something about it is an OEM/Retail product or something.. What does this mean?
Also, is the FX 4100 better than the phenom 965?

I would say to drop to a gtx660 (only slightly worse than a 7870) and keep the fx- 6300.

On the canadian newegg, the gtx 660's cost more :/
What I'll do is wait until I can afford the 6300.

Thanks for everything tiny
