Newbie help on SDRAM

Motherboard: Asus P3V4X supposedly supports PC133/100 SDRAM
Current Ram: 128MB/100Mhz SDRAM (one stick)
CPU: intel 700Mhz
OS: windows 98SE
Question: I am thinking of upgrading for improved speed from crucial.com. Can I add a PC133 256MB SDRAM stick to the Motherboard (there is room for plenty) and have the added benefit of the extra 33Mhz or does the PC100 limit the PC133? I guess what I am trying to figure out is if I should get rid of the PC100 stick for a PC133 stick. I don't plan to upgrade RAM after this upgrade. Also, what is the difference btwn 32x64 and 32x72 and should this matter with my motherboard in terms of compatibility? What is the difference btwn CL=2 and CL=3 and should this matter with my motherboard in terms of compatibility? Thanks for your time, Shaun

do get the pc133 cl2 and take out your pc100. the pc100 will limit the fsb(front side bus. the higher the better). and if you can change the memory timing in your bios go with the cl2. the memory timing is faster by one third on cl2 chips. as far as 32x64 and 32x72 go, don't worry about them.

You're running on a 100MHz FSB right now so you won't benefit from PC133 without overclocking. However, I recommend that you remove the PC100 and overclock your FSB a bit and then YOU WILL get a performance boost. Simply put, get some good quality PC133, set your FSB to 133 and you'll enjoy a 933MHz processor.
