Good afternoon folks,

Looking for advice regarding which graphics card would be the best bang for the buck for an older Desktop that I have. It's going to be used for gaming by my kids. The game they play the most on another PC is COD Black Ops, so that will probably be the game most used on this PC as well.

Details: HP-6000 Desktop
Intel Core 2 Quad core 2.66 processors
Q43 express chipset
16GB RAM (DDR3 PC-3 10666 4X4GB)
PCI express X16 version 1.0
Upgraded 750Watt power supply

I'm willing to spend approximately $200 on a graphics card. Would go slightly higher if recommended.

Thanks in advance!

Tim

Id say get the GTX 650 Ti or AMD 7850. 7850 being the better of the two, you can get one for around $170-$200 and it is a fair amount better than the 6870. Although like the others have mentioned your CPU is a bit outdated and will be a bottleneck is some situations.

Hey ... before you buy one here's some data hot off the Newegg site:
ps. I'm 'thrifty' and am very happy with my HD 6850 - does everything i need gamewise.

All prices include shipping and rebates:
1. 6870 - $150
2. 7850 - $170
3. 7870 - $220

Today, right now. I'd get a 7850 because it's great bang for the buck and you get a newer generation for $20. It will have more longevity (able to move it to a newer computer in the future and play current and future games better).

All 3 will do what your looking to do. I believe the 7850 is the best value when looking to the future. However, the 6870 is $20 cheaper.

Good Luck and enjoy !!

well given that choice I would not still go for the 7850 and pay the premium now with the hope of making the full use of it later(at a point of time when it would have already lost half its price due to the release of the 8 series)

no offence ment
