Which of these 2 cards would give the best all around performance

7750 has 512 stream processors 6770 has 800 , does that make a difference ? I tought the 7750 would be the better card , but with the ATI naming system higher number is not always better .
And don't suggest other cards with fans (i know these are not the best cards ) , this is for the bedroom media computer , silence is needed . If there are better fanless cards please let me know .

since you want a silent machine...it would be better, you go for the 7750. a media pc does not require anything more than this

the 7750 is the latest generation card and is very silent because and runs very cool.

The 7750 uses less power and heat. The 6770 has better performance (better for gaming)

The 7750 is newer and can still max out most games in 1366 x 768 - 720p resolution. Also the technology would be newer. I'm sure that since it uses less heat and power, this would be more silent.

For some extra research:

The 7750 can have a lower PSU - I would go for an 350 - 400w
The 6670 - I would go for 500w

I know you said not to suggest but for an extra £20, you can alway go for the HD 7770 which is a lot better than these two cards.

PSU is not a problem have a 620 watt Atec , I know the 7770 wold be better but the fan kills the deal . I do play a few games on this computer , Dirt3 , and NFS shift and other NFS GAMES .
So the 6770 give better gaming per, but it's honking big !! might not fit the case , what about this

Yeah I recently bought the 7750 and runs great. Very great if you have a low wattage psu.

About the other card though, its big you have to have a big case for that card.Though it will run quiet due to no fan. But the 7750 still is better then the 640.

As the other 2 people wrote - The HD 7750 is a lot better than the Gt640. I would go with the 7750 out of the two cards. 7750 can max out Dirt 3 @ 1080p, so it could probably max out the other 2 games. This is a nice small low wattage graphics card, new technology, i would buy it!

You could wait for the next 2 months when AMD release the next line of graphics card with even newer technology! (That's what i am doing)
