i have question... what is the diff between 266fsb pc2100 or pc2700 RAM. i mean how is PC2100 faster than PC2700.... what does "2100" and "2700" indicate.? thanx

my cpu and ram both support 266fsb and i run my mobo at 133MHz ok... so how does the speed become 266fsb or it doesnt? and if it can how i make it to run at 300Mhz if i get pc2100??

266 is actually "double-pumped" 133, meaning that it transmits data twice per clock. So when you see 266, it's actually set as 133 in the BIOS.

PC2100 is not in any way faster than PC2700, I don't know quite why you think it is. PC2700 is only supported in a few motherboards (Iwill XP333, for instance), so normally it is a waste. PC2100 from Crucial is usually the best thing for most people to buy.


And BTW, please spell "Athlon" correctly :smile:

The only reason you would want PC-2700 is if you overclock your system and want complete RAM stability, or if you are laden with money and couldn't care less.

CAS 2.5 PC2100 will be more than adequate.
