I have already posted a question on here, but I did that too early not really knowing when or how much I would spend. I now am about ready to purchase but I can't decide on a build. My budget is 600USD. I don't want to go over, but will be open to going alittle over for good value. I plan on using this for gaming, word processing, web surfing, and maybe will be getting into some coding and programming(don't bank on this when picking build). When gaming I will eventually be purchasing a 1920x1080 monitor, but the 600 is just for the tower, no peripheals included. As for games I know for sure I will be playing portal 2, gary's mod, planetside 2, the witcher 2, and more steam games and I plan on playing some current gen graphic intensive games like ac3 and bf3, and would like to run them atleast on high if possible. I tend to be an intel/nvidia type of person, but am open to suggestions. I may overclock down the road if needed. I'm in the US. I think I've said about everything you all would need to know, but if not I'm sorry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For now let's say without shipping and taxes. As to your build the amd only has 4gb of ram. As for the intel it is a 1x ram, I'm pretty sure you always want to go 2x

Right now this and the 660ti are the main cards I'm looking at. I just don't know if my budget allows for either. I can't find the 209 on sale.

It's really hard to get it under $600, but I'm trying. You'd have to sacrifice on the GPU quite a bit.

I'm trying though... I can get you under $700...

That's ~$672 with the Tom's Hardware code on that GPU.

This is with a 7850 instead of a 7870...

Maybe could squeeze $22 with a crappier MoBo, but I don't think I would do that.

The 7870 xt is out of stock and won't be restocked until the promotion is over, they did say those who missed out will get a second chance, but who knows how long that will take. Should I go with say... an evga superclocked gtx660?

If it was me, I wouldn't be looking at ATI , but the 7870 for that price point was a really great value. I see people pumping them up at every turn on these forums, but I just don't trust their cards. They always have quirky driver issues with some games and just don't seem to last that long (they use more power and run hotter, in my experience). Sometimes it's ATI's fault, and sometimes it's just that developers don't test their games on ATI drivers like they do with nvidia. I found myself doing a ton of jerry-rigging the last time I had an ATI card.

So, yeah, if it was me, I'd be trying to squeeze the 660 into the budget at $220.

This is going to be your best option for 1080p gaming at 60 frames. You should be able to max just about every game and the upcoming ones.

The 7950 beats just about any card in that price niche right now so therefor it's going to be your best option. If you want to save some money you can wait a little bit and get the 7870 XT when it happens to come back in stock.

I'm confused as to why you have 2 types of memory and also 16gb total, save yourself $50 and get 8gb of 1600mhz ram you really won't see any performance difference at all and it will save you some money.

If you plan on overclocking to get the best performance out of the cpu get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. If you do not plan on overclocking I would reccomend that you go to an i5 3570, saves you money and it's the EXACT same as the i5 3570k just not unlocked for overclocking.

If at all possible I would recommend you squeeze in a 120 or 128 GB ssd for the maximum performance you won't really see anything substantially better with that build.

Better Performance:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($32.94 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($109.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($47.69 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.49 @ Outlet PC)
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($99.99 @ Mac Mall)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($297.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Thermaltake Commander MS/I Snow Edition (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer ($17.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $956.04
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Better Savings:

On the second build couldn't I save a few bucks and get the asrock h77m because that processor can't be overclocked anyway, so why spend the extra for the z77 based mobo.
