I'm completing my final year of schooling and one of my subjects is a Research Project where we get to choose our own topic. The topic I have chosen is how to build a Gaming computer from scratch and I am seeking any information that can assist me with my project in any way.

Some of the information I am seeking is:

The cost in terms of time and money
The necessary hardware
And would you classify it a do it yourself project

Thank You for your time.

Money can be anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand

Hardware: CPU, Motherboard, Heatsink fan, RAM, GPU, PSU, HDD/SSD, DVD drive, Case.

Software: an OS

Time: 30 mins-2 hours build time.

Yes it most certainly is a fairly simple and easy DIY.

I remember doing this project in high school. I wrote about how to swap an engine and do some performance modifications. Actually got the teacher to let the class walk out to the parking lot to look at my car. Pretty cool.

Make sure to use detail and maybe pictures of the parts because chances are your teacher will have no clue what any of this stuff even is.

To be honest, you might want to write on a topic which is more universally understood so it will be easier for you teacher to understand and grade.
