Budget Range: $1500


System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, video editing, developing


Are you buying a monitor: No


Do you need to buy OS: Yes


Location: Phoenix, AZ


Parts Preferences: Intel is preferred but wouldnt mind going to AMD if I can get fairly close to same performance if it gets me within my budget

SLI or Crossfire: No


Additional Comments: For OS I want windows 7, software I could/would using are photoshop, dreamweaver, eclipse, xampp, video studios, diablo 3, left for dead 2, aliens: colonial marines, borderlands 2. I would prefer to have the hdd + ssd setup


And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Old computer crapped out, 6 years old anyway and slow for today's standards

Here, this will max out every game at good fps. If you are not overclocking you can buy the non K version of 3570 and just use the intel cooler so you can save around an extra $60 to get a better ssd or something oyu like.

For video editing, nvidia cards are better suited for you with cuda support, and since you want to play borderlands 2 with physX, the 670 gtx is a good option, if you don't plan to overclock get the xeon 1230 V2, it's the i7 without the on die gpu, my suggestion :

I see the builds so far show with 8gb for memory. Would it be overkill if I wanted to upgrade to 16gb? I just have alot of apps open at one time, eclipse, dreamweaver, photoshop, xampp running and a lot of other apps open at the same time.

Well my build is pretty much done, 2 things though the cable management sucks so need to redo it and I think I broke the case where the fan goes in the front. The top right part of the panel wont click back into place so it hangs out a little bit. Extremely upset, I simply snapped it off like before with no problems but for some reason it wont snap back on anymore. Here is a photo of this horrendous cable management job:
