Hi!
I have a dreadful problem with Windows XP SP2 and some old games. I can´t
play some of them. I´ve tried a lot of things (Patches and Compatibility
mode), but I haven´t solved anything. I don´t know what to do.

It´s horrible you can´t play the game collection you have made for years.
The problematic titles are: Heavy Metal FAKK 2, KISS: Psycho Circus, Messiah,
Outcast, Oni, System Shock 2 and Rune.

Please help me. Recommend me forums to ask my question or tell me what can I
do.

Gracias

Hi Jagger,

Off the cuff, the main reference for older games on Windows XP
is ntcompatible.com -- you'll find a lot of "DoS Freaks" there ;-)

In general, here's what I recommend for older games normally ..
-- Keep in mind that some of your titles are not DOS games.

When a game is a DOS game, it could work using compatibility mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292533 or by using the Multiboot
bootdisk from: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html
and always check at fileplanet.com to see if there's a patch available,
or search at: http://www.avault.com/pcrl/patches_list.asp?letter=a :)

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php Or try MS Virtual PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc/downloads/trial.asp
which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.

If you prefer to explore other advanced methods, here are two excellent
tutorials I've found on the subject: http://www.dosgames.com/faq.php and http://home.earthlink.net/~angeldancer27/XpGameList.htm For
sound
issues use: http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound Good Luck! :)

System Shock 2 works correctly in "natuve" XP mode, for me. You just make
sure you always install the latest available software patches for each,
first!

Lemme know if you get ONI to run and how :) Re-installed it onto older 98SE
pc as couldn't get it to run under XP.
