I've got Windows 7 Home Premium installed on Dell Studio 17 laptop. It freezes randomly. Doesn't matter what program I use. It usually needs a minute or so before it starts running again in the meantime it's not doing anything. just sits there. Extremely frustrating.
I reinstalled Windows - same thing. Drivers are up to date.
I ran diagnostics - everything's fine. I ran it in the safe mode again - same thing, it froze. Frustration again.
The only thing Dell rep managed to say: "it's a virus" after I formatted the drive and reinstalled OS?
Any ideas?

Solution
If your PC configuration is not low and it specifications are according to the requirement of windows 7 then do the following tasks:

Deletes Junk Files and Information
Adjusts Windows for Best Performance
Disables Unneeded Services
Disables Unneeded AutoStart Processes
Make sure that PC is virus free
Scan PC for malwares and registry.

Hope by performing these tasks PC becomes fast.

Thanks guys,
since the hardrive was freshly formatted I had only Windows 7 installed.
I adjusted page filing and set Windows to maximum performance.
It's running like a charm. Hasn't been freezing at all.
I appreciate the advice.
