More about maximum temperature graphics card
  1. It depends what card your talking about
  2. Depends on the card, but they are usually something ridiculous like 130C.
Check with the manufacturers specs of the card, the maximum temperature it can handle is usually called the TjMax.

Even if it's 130C, you better not reach that high, the solder might be weakened and break, the capacitors are not to be running at high temp, Mosfet can be blown as well due to high temp. To be safe, under 80-90 should be fine.
  4. I would be returning any card that ran hotter 80C
  5. ^^+1

Even though card can theoretically handle that temperature, you don't want to get anywhere near that hot. Same with CPU's, you should stay far away from its TjMax.

70C is my personal threshold on my components, I wont let them get hotter than that under load. If they did I would back off the overclock or do something to upgrade my cooling.
  6. ^ I let mine run at 65C
