Hello Sirs, I’m Rick

I’m building a gaming station but as its going to be the first time I do that I have some questions.

I have a good idea of what I want but some parts I’m unsure. (CPU, motherboard, cooling system)

Some Components are going to be 100% sure

Monitor: 1920x1080 Benq 2411T
GPU: Geforce 690.

OK, you are going to say, WTF!!! you want a GPU for that resolution???,

Yes, I’m buying a computer now here in Russia but in 2-3 years its possible I’m moving, so I will re-sell the computer or just leave it, but of course replacing/taking the GPU Geforce 690 with me.

No bigger size for monitor it’s possible due space issues so I think for price-value (remember this build is for gaming)that will be a good choice.

So for the rest of components my idea it’s to spend around 700$.

Taking in consideration my needs I think should be something as follows.

-SSD- 120 GB
-HDD 1 TB
-8 GB Memory
-CPU- My Firts idea it’s i7 3770K, but may be i5 or AMD could be a possible choice...
-Motherboard:????
-Case:????
-PSU:????
-CPU Cooler:????

For the rest of the components, I have to say I don’t give a *** about how it looks,
I want reliable and good quality components (as everybody I guess), I mean I don’t care spend few bucks more if needed...

Some extra info:

Approximate Purchase Date: 1 month
Location: Moscow. Russia
Overclocking: Maybe
SLI or Crossfire: No (during some time 690 will cope)
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

What you guys recommend for that specific situation?

Any suggest will be appreciated.

Thank you.

No reason to go AMD. I would honestly not get a GTX 690 - you can get dual GTX 670 and it will be near identical performance for far less money. What's your max budget?

Also post the store you're buying from. If you don't know one the link in my signature will help. If you're dead set on the 690 you might need to increase your budget to accommodate for the rest of the components. You will need a large case to properly house it and that will cost some money.

Im in Russia now, I have been exploring many Russian sites and this one was the cheapest and good offer.

http://www.online-pc.ru/index/page_subcat1007.htm

My idea about the 690 mainly its about to make easy the plug/unplug transportation in a possible future change of country (Im spanish I'm here temporally 2-3 years may be more...).

My idea its to spend around 2.000 $, but I can stretch the budget.

I see a great reason. Less money for identical or sometimes better perfomance plus the fact I can upgrade later without buying a new motherboard

A single 7970/GTX 670 is enough for single monitor. I wouldn't go with the 690. Later on you can sell it and buy the best single card on the market with better perfomance!

Spend money on 690, 3770k, RAM sticks, SSD coz those are small parts and you can easily carry them anywhere in th world

You don't need the 3770K for a gaming rig. If you want portable though maybe consider mATX or mITX.

Try this:

Case: NZXT Switch 810 - 4700 руб
PSU: Seasonic M12 II 750W - 5240 руб
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 - 5360 руб
CPU: 3.4GHz Intel Core i5-3570K - 7640 руб
Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B SE2 - 1950 руб
RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V - 1540 руб
HD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue - 2170 руб
SSD: 128GB OCZ Vector - 4530 руб
Optical: Lite On DVD Burner - 730 руб
Video Card: 2 x EVGA Geforce GTX 670 FTW - 15290 руб (each)

Total: 64410 руб (USD $2,118.98)

If you want to get the GTX 690: http://www.regard.ru/catalog/tovar109057.htm

The cost of the system will be 65720 руб (USD $2,218.98)

So the CPU Im now between the AMD FX-8350 3.4GHz Intel Core i5-3570K.
In a firt moment I was reluctant about AMD but that video change my mind some....

About the 690 or two 670 in SLI the difference its about 100 dollars, but the point of less comsuption in long term future its something also suduce me.

Also that page looks nicely to set up the computer, but the geforce its a little expensive.

using this webpage it possible to find an item in different russian stores,

http://price.ru/search/pc-components/graphics-card/offers/?sort=3&query=geforce+690

but that will mean to buy each componet from different shops and later build the system myself or order the mountage from some shop.

Every point of view its really highly apreciatted!!

No reason to purchase an FX-8350 on your budget. Get the 3570K - it's a far stronger CPU for gaming. I'm not sure how credible those Youtube videos are. I looked at one the other day and of the 200 comments, at least half were quick to call BS.

As far as power consumption goes the GTX 6XX series use way less power than their predecessors do. They're getting more energy efficient with each generation. And then the upcoming 7XX series will use less power than that.
