Computer won't post

Hello,
My computer was running some dianogstic program and never really shut off properly.Now it won't do anything but one long beep and a short one. The monitor nor the keybord works.I can turn it off by holding down the start button but when I try to turn it back on it's the same thing. Repair or buy a new one?

It depends on the BIOS manufacturer or the PC manufacturer, but a quick look at a reference page says it means a motherboard fault.
